Francisco Morazán Department

Francisco Morazán (FMO) is one of the departments of Honduras. It is located in the central part of the nation. The departmental capital is Tegucigalpa, which is also Honduras's national capital. Until 1943 it was known as Tegucigalpa department. It was named after national hero Francisco Morazán. The department is very mountainous, with rugged ranges covered in pine forests; which are rocky and mostly clay.

National Congress of Honduras

The National Congress is the legislative branch of the government of Honduras. The Honduran Congress is a unicameral legislature. The current President of the National Congress of Honduras is Juan Orlando Hernández. Its members are 128 deputies, who are elected on a proportional representation basis, by department, to serve four-year terms.

Tegucigalpa

Tegucigalpa, commonly referred to as Tegus, is the capital of Honduras and seat of government of the Republic, along with its twin sister Comayagüela. Founded on September 29, 1578 by the Spanish, it became the country's capital on October 30, 1880 under President Marco Aurelio Soto. The current Constitution of Honduras, enacted in 1982, names the sister cities of Tegucigalpa and Comayagüela as a Central District to serve as the permanent national capital, under articles 8 and 295.
