Glerá

Glerá River (lit. River of Glass) is a river in northern Iceland. It originates from glaciers in the mountains of Tröllaskagi peninsula and also draws water from some fresh water springs on its way down Glerá Valley. It runs through the town of Akureyri before it flows into the sea in Eyjafjörður. The river formed the sandbank of Oddeyri where it enters the sea.

University of Akureyri

The University of Akureyri (Icelandic: Háskólinn á Akureyri) is a young institution, founded on September 5, 1987 in the city of Akureyri in the north part of Iceland. It has grown since then, especially in the last few years as more facilities have been established. 1,382 students attended the university in the autumn semester of 2007, around 450 of them doing so through distance education, making the university the largest provider of distance education in the country.

Akureyri

Akureyri is a town in northern Iceland. It is Iceland's second largest urban area and fourth largest municipality. Nicknamed the Capital of North Iceland, Akureyri is an important port and fishing centre, with a population of 17,754. The area where Akureyri is located was settled in the 9th century but did not receive a municipal charter until 1786. The town was the site of Allied units during World War II.
