Vatnsnes
Vatnsnes is a peninsula jutting into Húnaflói in northern Iceland. It is surrounded by waters of Miðfjörður on the west and Húnafjörður on the east. It is home to one of the largest seal colonies in Iceland, among others at Hindisvík and Ósar. Seals have been protected for many years in Hindisvík. A stone hut was built at Ósar on the eastern side of the peninsula for seal watching.

Borgarvirki
Borgarvirki lies between Vesturhóp and Víðidalur in the north of Iceland, and at 177m above sea level it dominates the surrounding region. Made out of basalt strata, it has been used as a fortress for centuries. Borgarvirki is a natural phenomenon, altered by humans in earlier centuries. In 1949, the main entrance was renovated by workers. Borgarvirki is a volcanic plug (gosstapi), and the Icelandic sagas mention that in earlier centuries it was used for military purposes.

Breiðabólsstaðarkirkja is a church in Vestur-Húnavatnssýsla, Iceland. It was built in 1893, although the site dates back to around 1100. Jón Arason was linked to the church in the 16th century.

Battle of the Gulf
The Flóabardagi was a naval battle on June 25, 1244 off the coast of Iceland, in Húnaflói Bay, during the Sturlungaöld civil war. The conflicting parties were the followers of Þórður kakali Sighvatsson and those of Kolbeinn ungi Arnórsson. Þórður's men were from the Westfjords of Iceland, while Kolbeinn's were northerners.
