Hrútafjörður

Hrútafjörður is a fjord in the north-west of Iceland. It is around 36 km long and lies to the south of Húnaflói bay. The junction and farmstead of Brú is at its southern tip and serves as a local agricultural service station. "Hrúta" is plural possessive of "Hrútur" which means the male sheep.

Borðeyri

Borðeyri is a small hamlet in north-west Iceland. It is a minor commercial centre for nearby farms. The population on 1 December 2007 was 25. The hamlet is a part of the municipality Bæjarhreppur which is one of the smallest in Iceland with a population of 100 in 2010. The municipality covers the west part of Hrútafjörður fjord. In Borðeyri there is a pre-school and an elementary school, a garage and a guesthouse.

Miðfjörður

Miðfjörður is a small fjord in the northwest of Iceland. Miðfjörður is fed by the river Austurá, is roughly 2 km wide and 10 km long, and empties onto Húnaflói bay. The town of Hvammstangi is on the eastern slope of the fjord. The main highway through rural Iceland, Route 1, passes by the southern tip of Miðfjörður.

Brú

Brú is a farmstead and road junction in northwestern Iceland in Vestur-Húnavatnssýsla county. It is located in the Northwest Political constituency. It has a filling station and a guesthouse. It is located at the southern tip of Hrútafjörður where the river Hrútafjarðará has its estuary with the Arctic Ocean.
