The small sub-divisional town has scenic beauty though nothing like a tourism business. The town is surrounded by hills, tea gardens, forest and the Dihing River. It is the starting point for the Ledo Road, also known as the Stillwell Road in the British era and the Second World War. This road was used by the Americans and British as a military supply route to China through Burma (Myanmar).
