Ilkal

Ilkal is a medium sized town in Bagalkot district in the Indian state of Karnataka. The town is located in a valley that lies in South – East corner of Bagalkote district and is quite close to the borders of Kushtagi taluk of Koppal district. The town falls within the jurisdiction of Hungund taluk and lies at a distance of about 12 km south of taluk headquarters. Between these two towns, Ilkal is an important centre of trade, commerce and industry.

Battle of Gajendragad

The Battle of Gajendragad was fought in June 1786, during the Maratha-Mysore War. An army of the Maratha Empire led by Haripant Phadke captured the town and fortress at Gajendragad. Between 1764 and 1772, Marathas led by its Prime Minister Madhavrao Peshwa had defeated Hyder Ali, ruler of Mysore, in three successive battles. In all these battles, leader in action on battle front was Murarrao Ghorpade of Gooty who was bestowed upon title of Senapati by Peshwa.

Kushtagi

Hunagunda

Hunagunda is a taluk in the northern district of Bagalkot in Karnataka, India. Major towns in the taluk are Amingad, Karadi, Hunagunda and Ilkal. It is the taluk which has the place Kudalasangama (ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮ) where the social reformist Basavanna attained moksha(Salvation). Hunagunda Taluk also contains Aihole and Pattadkal which were once under the rule of Chalukyas of Badami. Amingad is known for Amingad karadantu, a sweet dish.
