Alnavar (ALNAVARA in Kannada)is a panchayat town in Dharwad district in the state of Karnataka, India. The place is famous for raw mangoes produced,used for making pickles. The raw mangoes are plucked when they are tender, which give distinct taste to pickles as compared to others. The raw mangoes produced here are known by name "Appi Midi " in local language Kannada.

University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad

University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, (UASD) is a State Public university established by the Government of Karnataka which imparts Education, Research and Extension activities in the field of agriculture, forestry and home science. The university was started on 1 October 1986. It is located on Dharwad-Belgaum road on a campus with space for growing trees and fields for conducting experiments and research.

Karnatak University

Karnatak University (Kannada: ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯ) was established at Dharwad in October 1949. It had its official inauguration in March 1950. The campus spans 750 acres (3 km²). Dr. D. C. Pavate was the vice-chancellor from 1954 to 1967. The rapid development of the institution is credited to him. The university was recognized with the "Potential for Excellence" by the University Grants Commission. The university is the second oldest, after University of Mysore, in the state of Karnataka. H.

D. C. Pavate

Dadasaheb Chintmani Pavate, M. A (Cantab) (1899–1978) was awarded Padma Bhushan from the Government of India in 1967. He was the vice-chancellor of the Karnatak university Dharwar, and the Governor of Punjab. Pavate was a Cambridge Mathematical Tripos wrangler. Pavate was born in Mamdapur a small village next to Gokak town. His mother was Shantamma. His father was a Lingayat farmer. Pavate completed primary schooling from Mamdapur and high school from Gokak. He stood first in B.

Karnatak College Dharwar

Karnatak College of Arts and Science, Dharwar (1917) is one of the leading institutions in Karnataka, India offering B.A. , B. Com. and B. Sc. degrees. KCD is the oldest college affiliated to Karnataka University, Dharwar. Originally it belonged to University of Mumbai. G.S. Paramasivaiah was a student of the Nobel-laureate Sir C. V.
