National Institute of Technology Karnataka

The National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) formerly known as Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC), is a public engineering college at Surathkal, about 20 kilometres north of Mangalore. It was founded in 1960 as KREC while today, it is one of the 30 National Institutes of Technology in India and is recognised as an Institute of National Importance. It is a suburban campus, in close proximity to the Arabian Sea.

Shree Vishnumurthy Temple

Shree Vishnumurthy Temple is located in the town of Kulai near Surathkal about 15 km north of Mangalore in the state of Karnataka, India. This is an ancient Vishnu shrine has a statue estimated to be about 600 years old. The temple's presiding deity is Shree Vishnumurthy who is another form of Lord Vishnu. Initially no temple complex was evident but Venkatramana Hebbar, a local archeologist and historian, found a small shrine in a state of ruin in the forest around 1911.

Kinnigoli

Kinnigoli is a small town in Mangalore taluk. It is located approximately 32 km from Mangalore City, 5 km from Kateel (a famous Hindu piligrimage center), 8 km from Mulki (5 km from Mulki Railway station) and 17 km from the Mangalore International Airport. Kinnigoli is a fast developing township. Kinnigoli is well connected by road with buses to all major cities and towns of the region.

Air India Express Flight 812

Air India Express Flight 812 was a scheduled passenger service from Dubai to Mangalore which at around 01:00 UTC on 22 May 2010, overshot the runway on landing, fell over a cliff and caught fire, spreading wreckage across the surrounding hillside. Of the 160 passengers and six crew members on board, only eight passengers survived.

Mangalore Airport (India)

Mangalore Airport, formerly known as Bajpe Airport, is an international airport, serving the coastal city of Mangalore, India. Several daily flights connect Mangalore with most major cities in southern and western India as well as many major cities in the Middle East. The airport was opened on 25 December 1951 as the Bajpe Aerodrome when then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru arrived on the maiden flight on a DC-3 Dakota aircraft.
