Krishnagiri Dam

Krishnagiri Dam is a dam located 7 km from Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu, India, between Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri which irrigates thousands of acres of land around Krishnagiri. The Dam is operational from 1958, inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu K. Kamaraj. It has a gross capacity of 1666.0 M. Cft at FRL.

Krishnagiri district

Krishnagiri is a district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The municipal town of Krishnagiri is the district headquarters. In Tamil Nadu, E-Governance was first introduced at Krishnagiri district under the National e-Governance Project (NEGP) in Revenue, Social Welfare departments on a pilot basis. The district is one of the two largest producers of Mangoes not only in Tamil Nadu but throughout India.

Krishnagiri Fort

Krishnagiri Fort is one of the strongest forts in the Krishnagiri district and is now one of the monuments protected by the Archaeological Survey of India. The fort was built by King Krishnadevaraya of the Vijayanagar Empire. For this reason, the town and the fort got the name Krishnagiri (“Krishna” from the king’s name, “giri” meaning hill).
