Praya, Central Lombok

Praya is the capital town of Central Lombok Regency on Lombok island in West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. It has an area of 31.12 km2 and 55,041 people. It is a predominantly Muslim town, with minorities of Chinese following Buddhism or Christianity. It is located a short distance to the north of the Bandara Internasional Lombok airport which opened on 1 October 2011. The airport is the islands only operational airport and provides services for both international and domestic operations.

Lombok

Lombok is an island in West Nusa Tenggara (Nusa Tenggara Barat or NTB) province, Indonesia. It forms part of the chain of the Lesser Sunda Islands, with the Lombok Strait separating it from Bali to the west and the Alas Strait between it and Sumbawa to the east. It is roughly circular, with a "tail" to the southwest, about 70 km across and a total area of about 4,725 km² (1,825 sq mi). The provincial capital and largest city on the island is Mataram.

Lombok International Airport

Lombok International Airport (Bandara Internasional Lombok) is a new airport on the island of Lombok in Indonesia. It is the island's only fully operational airport. The completion of the airport project and necessary complementary infrastructure such as a highway connecting to the city of Mataram delayed inauguration of the new airport several times. At the close of 2010 the facility had still not been issued the required operational certifications and tensions persisted with local landowners.

Selaparang Airport

Selaparang Airport, was the sole airport serving the island of Lombok and the city of Mataram, the capital of the province of West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia up until its closure on 30 September 2011. The IATA code AMI came from the nearby port of Ampenan, now a part of Mataram. The airport was operated by PT. Angkasa Pura 1 (PERSERO).
