Payakumbuh

Payakumbuh is a city north-east of Bukittinggi, Indonesia. It has an area of 80.43 km² and a population of over 99,300 people. Literally translated, the city name means "grassy swamp". Payakumbuh is known for flying duck races and foods like gelamai, a sweet coconut palm sugared snack. Transport options within the city include bendi, a form of horse-cart. Baso (island)

Baso is the middle town between Bukittinggi and Payakumbuh, West Sumatra. It is only 15 kilometers east of Bukittingi. In the history of West Sumatra this town was the transit and junction town of Payakumbuh, Bukittinggi and Batusangkar. This town was known also as the most important farmers trading and crops collection point in West Sumatra.
