Pariangan

Pariangan is a small Minangkabau village located in the regency of Tanah Datar, West Sumatra province, Indonesia. The village is located on the lower slopes of Mount Marapi, a highly active volcano, at a distance of fifteen kilometres from the market town of Batu Sangkar. Tanah Datar is a regency (kabupaten) in West Sumatra province, Indonesia. The regency has a population of 334,000. The capital of the regency is Batusangkar. The town of Padang Panjang is also located in the regency but constitutes a municipality (kota otonom) of its own.

Mount Marapi

Marapi (also known as Merapi or Berapi) is a complex volcano in West Sumatra, Indonesia. Its name means Mountain of Fire, and it is the most active volcano in Sumatra. Its elevation is 2,891.3 metres . A number of cities and towns are situated around the mountain, including Bukittinggi, Padang Panjang and Batusangkar.
