Gorgan Airport

Gorgan Airport is an international airport in Gorgan, Iran. It is located at some 2 kilometers west of the Gorgan-AqQala Highway, and some 6 kilometers north of the city of Gorgan, the capital of Golestan province. There are services to Tehran, Mashhad and Zahedan from the airport. There are also rather non-regular flights to Saudi Arabia & Syria.

Abaskun

Abaskun was a port that existed in the Middle Ages on the southeastern shore of the Caspian Sea in the area of Gorgan. In his Geographia, Ptolemy mentions a river Sokanda in Hyrcania, which may have given the name to the city. The exact location of Abaskun remains unclear; most likely, it was situated near the mouth of the Gorgan River. According to Arab geographers, Abaskun was within a one- or three-day journey from Gorgan.
