Simele

Simele or Sumail is a town located in the Iraqi province of Dohuk. The city is on the main road that connects Iraq to its neighbour Turkey. It is 14 kilometers west of the city of Dohuk.

Simele massacre

The Simele Massacre was a massacre committed by the armed forces of the Kingdom of Iraq during a campaign systematically targeting the Assyrians of northern Iraq in August 1933. The term is used to describe not only the massacre in Simele, but also the killing spree that took place among 63 Assyrian villages in the Dohuk and Mosul districts that led to the deaths of between 600 and 3,000 Assyrians. The Assyrian people were still recovering from one of the darkest periods of their history.

Duhok Stadium

Duhok Stadium, is a multi-use stadium in Dohuk, Kurdistan. It is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as the home stadium of Duhok football club. The stadium originally held 10,000 people, but after reconstruction it now holds 20,000 people.

Sandur, Iraq

Sandur, also spelt Sundur, was a village located in Iraqi Kurdistan, about 70 miles north of Mosul, near Duhok, towards Amediyah. It was historically a Jewish agricultural settlement inhabited by Kurdish Jews.

Kurdistan
