Gowran Park

Gowran Park is a horse race course in County Kilkenny, Ireland. It is located in the Annerly Estate near the village of Gowran. The first meeting was held in 1914. and the first ever racecourse commentary in Ireland took place here in 1952. Gowran Park hosts 16 race days throughout the year with both National Hunt and Flat meetings.

Young Irelands GAA

Young Irelands are a Gaelic Athletic Association Club based in Gowran, County Kilkenny, Ireland. Formed in 1952, they are located on the Goresbridge Road just outside the village. Their jersey consists of red and white vertical stripes. In October 2009, Young Irelands were relegated to Intermediate level. They are currently managed by Cathal Fitzgerald. Past managers have included hurling greats such as Pat O'Neill and Kevin Fennelly.

Shankill Castle

Shankill Castle and Gardens is set in parkland near Paulstown on the Carlow/Kilkenny border. Visitors are invited to walk in the grounds and gardens, and there are guided tours of the house. Shankill Castle started as a Bulter tower-house near the ruins of an old church. Peter Aylward bought the lands from his wife's family, the Butlers, in 1708, and it was rebuilt and set in a formal landscape with a vista to the front and canal to the rear.

Clara GAA

Clara GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated in the small parish of Clara in County Kilkenny, Ireland. Focused mainly on hurling and camogie, the dominant sports in the county, Clara's greatest achievement to date was victory in the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship in 1986, their first and only county title. Despite limited success at county level, Clara has produced several hurlers who have gone on to enjoy inter-county success with Kilkenny.
