Acaya

Acaya is a small town, a frazione of Vernole, a comune in the province of Lecce in southern Apulia, Italy. Acaya has historical and archaeological relevance because is one of the very few fortified villages left in Apulia. Whole the urban architecture was planned to optimize defense and surviving capabilities. The road system pattern that dates back to the 16th century is characteristic. The village is divided into rectangular insulae.

Lecce Airfield

Lecce Airfield is an abandoned World War II military airfield in Italy, which is located approximately 5 km southeast of Lecce in the Salentine Peninsula. Built in 1943 by United States Army Engineers, the airfield was primarily a Fifteenth Air Force B-24 Liberator heavy bomber base used in the strategic bombing of Germany. Lecce was also used by tactical aircraft of Twelfth Air Force in the Italian Campaign.

Stadio Via del Mare

Stadio Via del Mare is a multi-purpose stadium in Lecce, Italy. It is mostly used for football matches and is the home of U.S. Lecce. The stadium was built in 1966 and holds 33,876. It takes its name from the street leading to the sea.

Orto Botanico dell'Università di Lecce

The Orto Botanico dell'Università di Lecce (2 hectares), also known as the Orto Botanico di Lecce, is a botanical garden operated by the University of Lecce and located at Via Provinciale Lecce-Monteroni, 73100, Lecce, Apulia, Italy. Although Lecce's earliest botanical garden dates to 1814, it began an irreversible decline in 1866 after its acquisition by the province, and today's garden is a separate undertaking begun in 1994 by the university's biology department.
