Kanin (mountain)
The Kanin or Canin is a mountain in the Julian Alps on the border of Slovenia and Italy. Its highest summit (Visoki Kanin, or Monte Canin Alto) is at 2,587 m above sea level. It separates the upper Soča valley in Slovenia from the Resia valley in Italy. On the Slovenian part of the mountain, which is part of the Bovec municipality, there is an important ski resort, the highest in the country.

The Vrtoglavica Cave (also Vrtiglavica, from Slovenian "vrtoglavica" = vertigo) is a cave located inside the Kanin mountain in the Slovenian part of the Julian Alps, near to the border between Slovenia and Italy. The cave holds the record for having the deepest single vertical drop of any cave on Earth at a depth of 603 metres . Total depth of cave is 643 m, it contains one of the tallest cave waterfalls in the world, estimated height of falls - 400 to 440 m.

Pressegger See
Pressegger See is a lake in Carinthia, Austria. It is located in a glacial valley within the Gailtal Alps, a mountain range of the Southern Limestone Alps, east of Hermagor. With an average depth of 3.4 m, the water body of the semi-circular lake is relatively flat. It is characterized by extended reed beds, while there are also bathing beaches on the northern and southern shore busy in summer.

1976 Friuli earthquake
The 1976 Friuli earthquake took place in the Friuli region in northeast Italy on Thursday, May 6, 1976. Measuring 6.4 on the Richter Scale, the quake, centered on the town of Gemona del Friuli, killed 989 people, injured 2400 and left 157,000 homeless. It is known in Italy as Terremoto del Friuli (Friulian earthquake).
