Brenner Railway

The Brenner Railway is a major line connecting the Austrian and Italian railways from Innsbruck and Verona climbing the Wipptal (German for “Wipp Valley”), passing over the Brenner Pass and descending down the Eisack Valley to Bolzano and then down the Adige Valley from Bolzano to Rovereto and from there along the section of the Adige valley called in Italian the “Vallagarina” to Verona. The line is part of the Line 1 of Trans-European Transport Networks (TEN-T).

Cavalese cable car disaster (1998)

The Cavalese cable car disaster of 1998 (also called the Strage del Cermis occurred on February 3, 1998, near the Italian town of Cavalese, a ski resort in the Dolomites some 40 km northeast of Trento. Manghen Pass

The Manghen Pass (Italian: Passo di Manghen) is a 2,047 m high mountain pass in Trentino in Italy. It connects the Fiemme valley and Valsugana, linking Molina and Castelnuovo in the south. The pass road has a maximum grade of 16%. Commercial traffic is prohibited. The massive road climb from Val Sugana was featured in the 2008 Giro d'Italia cycle race.
