The Cavalese cable car disaster of 1998 (also called the Strage del Cermis occurred on February 3, 1998, near the Italian town of Cavalese, a ski resort in the Dolomites some 40 km northeast of Trento. Überetsch-Unterland is a district in the southern part of the Italian province of South Tyrol. It comprises the valley of the Adige river from Bolzano in the north to Salorno in the south.

Manghen Pass

The Manghen Pass (Italian: Passo di Manghen) is a 2,047 m high mountain pass in Trentino in Italy. It connects the Fiemme valley and Valsugana, linking Molina and Castelnuovo in the south. The pass road has a maximum grade of 16%. Commercial traffic is prohibited. The massive road climb from Val Sugana was featured in the 2008 Giro d'Italia cycle race.

Überetsch Railway

The Überetsch Railway connected Bolzano with the Mendel Funicular. This line was part of a rail sightseeing tour round the Mendelpass. The tour was made up by five railway lines and often used by tourists.
