1792 Unzen earthquake and tsunami was an earthquake resulting from the volcanic activities of Mount Unzen on 21 May. This caused the collapse of the southern flank of the Mayuyama dome in front of Mount Unzen, resulting in a tremendous tsunami, killing 15,000 people altogether. It was also called, Shimabara erupted, Higo affected (島原大変肥後迷惑), (Shimabara means the central mountain of the Shimabara Peninsula) since many people were killed by this tsunami in Higo.

Unzen Ropeway
The Unzen Ropeway is the name of Japanese aerial lift line, as well as its operator. Opened in 1957, the line climbs Myōken Peak of Mount Unzen, Unzen, Nagasaki. It attracts the visitor with the view of the surrounding nature, especially azaleas in spring and autumn colors in autumn.

Ariake Sea
The Ariake Sea is a body of salt water surrounded by Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, and Kumamoto Prefectures, all of which lie on the island of Kyūshū in Japan. It is the largest bay in Kyūshū. Its deepest point is only about 50 m deep, and extreme tides exceed 4 m. It is used for aquaculture, with nori being a major product. Various species of fauna, including mudskippers, pen shells (Atrina pectinata), and fiddler crabs, live in the Ariake Sea.
