Hiji Falls

Hiji Falls is a National Park and popular tourist destination on the island of Okinawa, Japan. It is located in the northern part of the island, approximately 20 kilometers north of the city of Nago. The area the falls and the ensuing river flow through is tropical most of the year. It is a popular destination for both site-seers and committed hikers, as the path from the start to the finish at the falls themselves is not far (about 2 miles), but there are many steep steps throughout the path.

Camp Gonsalves

Camp Gonsalves is located in Northern Okinawa, Japan across the villages of Kunigami and Higashi. At 17,500 acres JWTC contains 22 helicopter landing zones, one water surface beach access, four bivouac sites, three outdoor classrooms, one firebase, three 3rd world village target sites and one target missile site.

Kunigami District, Okinawa

Kunigami District, Okinawa is a district located in Okinawa, Japan. Roughly translated, kunigami means "head of the country", referring to its northern location on the island of Okinawa. Compare this to Shimajiri District, Okinawa. As of 2003, the district has an estimated population of 64,670 and the density of 112.19 persons per km². The total area is 576.43 km². Kunigami district includes a section of Okinawa Island and several smaller islands.

Fukuji Dam

The Fukuji Dam or Fukuchi Dam is a rock-fill embankment dam on the Fukuchi River 2.5 km northeast of Higashi, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. The purpose of the dam, the tallest in Okinawa, is water supply and flood control.

USS Emmons (DD-457)

USS Emmons (DD-457/DMS-22) was a Gleaves-class destroyer of the United States Navy, named for Rear Admiral George F. Emmons (1811–1884). Emmons was launched 23 August 1941 by Bath Iron Works Corp. , Bath, Me. , sponsored by Mrs. F.  E. Reacock, granddaughter of Rear Admiral Emmons; and commissioned 5 December 1941, Lieutenant Commander T.  C. Ragan in command. She was reclassified DMS-22 on 15 November 1944.
