Kolahun District

Kolahun District is the largest administrative district of Lofa County in Liberia. It has an estimated population (July, 2004) of 26,827. Kolahun was the scene of heavy fighting between government troops and rebels during Liberia's second civil war, causing massive shifts in population and destruction of property.

Genga, Liberia

Genga is a village in northern Liberia. It is in the Kolahun District of Lofa County. To the west is the border with Sierra Leone, whilst the border with Guinea is to the north. Mount Wuteve is 40 km to the SE. Genga lies in a valley at an altitude of 432 meters, Lat 8°22'37"N, Long 10°16'55"W. An alternate name is Geinga.

Guéckédougou

Guéckédougou or Guéckédou is a town in southern Guinea near the Sierra Leone and Liberian borders. It had a population of 79,140 in 1996 (census) but has grown massively since the civil wars and, as of 2008, it is estimated to be 221,715. It was a centre of fighting during the Second Liberian Civil War and the Sierra Leone Civil War in 2000 and 2001. The city is renowned for its large weekly market, which attracts traders from across Southern Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Côte d'Ivoire.

Foya

Foya is a town in the Foya District of Lofa County, Liberia. Foya is located 66 kilometers from Voinjama, it is home to the Kissi-speaking tribes of Liberia. Foya shares border with Sierra Leone and Guinea, it is the major trade link for the people in the far north of Lofa County. It has no running water and electricity, the road from Voinjama to Foya is a third level road with recent repair work done by the UNHCR estimated at 3,000,000 United States dollars. Hon William T.
