Plokštinė missile base
Plokštinė underground ballistic missile with thermonuclear cartridge base (Lithuanian: Plokštinės raketų bazė) was a missile base of the Soviet Union. It was built near Plokščiai village, 13 kilometres north of Plungė, in sparsely populated Plokštinė forest near Plateliai Lake, Samogitia, Lithuanian SSR. This is the first nuclear missile base of the Soviet Union, an underground R-12 Dvina ballistic medium-range missile base. In 2012, the Cold War Museum was opened at the site.

Žemaitija National Park
Žemaitija National Park is a national park in Lithuania. It is situated on Žemaičių Highlands, 45 km from the Baltic Sea. Lakes cover more than 7% of its territory. Lake Plateliai (12.05 km², 47 m depth) is the largest lake. The town of Plateliai, situated on the shore of the lake, is the seat of the park's administration and a popular tourist destination.

Lake Plateliai
Lake Plateliai is the biggest lake in Samogitia and 9th biggest in Lithuania. It is the central attraction in the Žemaitija National Park. It covers about 12 km² and reaches up to 47 m in depth. It has seven islands, one of them housed a castle and now is called Castle Island. Archeologists found remains of two castles and think it might be the Queen Bona castle. The lake has both diving and yacht clubs. Plateliai town is located on the west bank of the lake.

Alsėdžiai
Alsėdžiai is a small town in the Plungė district municipality. It is near the Sruoja River, 20 km from Plungė. Alsėdžiai is an administrative center of the Alsėdžiai eldership. Stanisław Narutowicz, one of the signers of Act of Independence of Lithuania and brother to the first president of Poland Gabriel Narutowicz is buried in the village cemetery. As of 2001, there were 956 inhabitants living in this town.
