Chikwawa District

Chikwawa is a district in the Southern Region of Malawi. The capital is Chikwawa. The district covers an area of 4,755 km. ² and has a population of 356,682. Chikwawa contains six National Assembly constituencies: Chikwawa - Nkombez; Chikwawa East, Chikwawa-Central, Chikwawa-North, Chikwawa-South and Chikwawa-West. Since the 2009 general election all of these constituencies have been represented by politicians from the Democratic Progressive Party.

Thyolo

Thyolo is a town located in the Southern Region of Malawi. It is the administrative capital of Thyolo District. The late President of Malawi, Bingu wa Mutharika, was born in Thyolo. Economy There are several tea estates that are found in Thyolo. Tea has been grown in this area as early as 1909 that was when Malawi used to be colonized by the British.
