Chambe Peak is a peak of Mulanje Massif, the highest mountain in Central Africa. A steep path provides a great view across Southern Malawi and Mozambique on a clear day. The plateau on the top is part of the forest of Mulanje Cedar; Chambe also has a farm and living spaces in a hut run by the Forestry Commission in Malawi. Chiradzulu Mountain is located approximately 20 km to the north-east of Blantyre, Malawi's main commercial centre. The administrative district of Chiradzulu in southern Malawi was named after this mountain. Chiradzulu Mountain rises to a peak of 1,773m above seal level and is the third highest mountain peak in southern Malawi. It comes third after Mulanje Mountain, whose famous Sapitwa peak rises to 3,002m above sea level; and Zomba Mountain, which rises to 2,085m above sea level at its peak.

Chiradzulu contains five National Assembly constituencies: Chiradzulo-West, Chiradzulu - East, Chiradzulu-Central, Chiradzulu-North and Chiradzulu-South. Since the 2009 general election all of these constituencies have been represented by politicians from the Democratic Progressive Party.
