Pontian District

Pontian is a district in southwest Johor. It is located 62 km from Johor Bahru, the state capital of Johor, Malaysia. It is also located at Miles 37 (Batu 37) from Johor Bahru. The name Pontian is also used in the names of two towns in the district, Pontian Besar and Pontian Kechil, of which the latter serves as its district capital. The capital was formerly a fishing village which has developed into a small town. Pontian is noted for its variety of seafood which is sold at a reasonable price.

Pekan Nanas

Pekan Nanas or Pineapple Town is a town located in Pontian district, Johor, Malaysia. It is located in the 43 km southwest of Johor Bahru. Pekan Nanas has a population of approximately 10,000. Pekan Nanas is an ethnic Chinese-majority town. It contains the Pekan Nanas Immigration Depot and a pineapple canning facility. It is also home to the Muzium Nanas or Pineapple Museum. Pekan Nanas was Malaysia's largest production base for pineapple planting area and output ranked first in the country.

Ulu Choh

Ulu Choh is a small town in Johor Bahru District, Johor, Malaysia. Located near the border of Pontian district. Situated along Skudai-Pontian Highway (Federal route) About 50 years ago, Ulu Choh only dense forest hideaway. The government then encourage residents around the area to take part in the agricultural sector such as rubber plantations and vegetables. At the same time, Singapore requires water supply from Johor.

Kukup

Kukup is a small fishing village located about forty kilometres southwest of Johor Bahru, in the district of Pontian, Johor, on the Strait of Malacca in Malaysia. It is famous for its open-air seafood restaurants built on stilts over the water. Some of the restaurants are geared for tour groups, and it is particularly popular with tourists from Singapore. Regularly scheduled ferries connect Kukup with Tanjung Balai in Indonesia.

Pulau Kukup

Pulau Kukup is a mangrove island located at about 1 km offshore from the 150 year-old fishing village of Kukup in Pontian, at the South-western region of the state of Johor, and towards North-west of Tanjung Piai, Peninsular Malaysia. The area of the island is 6.472 square kilometres and is surrounded by 8 square kilometres of mudflats.
