XEK-AM La Estación Grande de Nuevo Laredo is a Spanish-language Talk format with Adult Contemporary music that makes it the most unusual AM station serving the Laredo, Texas, USA and Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico border area. XEK was founded on May 17, 1937, by Ruperto Villarreal when he was only 18 years old and was one of the first stations in the Laredo / Nuevo Laredo Market.

Garita Kilómetro 26 is a federal inspection station operated by the Mexican government. It is located 26 km south of Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, on Federal Highway 85. It is more commonly known as Kilómetro Veintiséis or just el Veintiséis. It represents one of the many garitas located along the major transportation corridors in border regions. More than 4000 trucks pass through the inspection station each day. The inspection facility has been in the process of renovation since 2005.

San Ygnacio, Texas
San Ygnacio is a census-designated place (CDP) in Zapata County, Texas, in the United States. As of the 2010 census, the CDP population was 667. It is named for the prominent Spanish saint, Ignatius of Loyola. The portion of the community between the Rio Grande and U.S. Highway 83 is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as San Ygnacio Historic District.

América is a community located in Nuevo Laredo Municipality in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. According to the INEGI Census of 2010, América has a population of 197 inhabitants. El Cenizo is a city in Webb County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,273 at the 2010 census. El Cenizo is the third largest city in Webb County. In May, 2006, El Cenizo gained national attention when it was widely reported that the city had adopted Spanish as its official language. In an interview on a national cable news network held on May 23, 2006, its mayor defended the decision but said that official business was now conducted in both English and Spanish.
