Santa Carolina is an island at the mouth of the Limpopo River in Mozambique. It is just 2 miles by 0.3 miles in size. Santa Carolina is a true rock island with deep channels. Santa Carolina has three beaches with coral reefs close to the shore. Bazaruto Archipelago

The Bazaruto Archipelago is a group of six islands in Mozambique, near the mainland city of Vilankulo. It comprises the islands of Bazaruto, Benguerra, Magaruque, Banque, Santa Carolina (also known as Paradise Island) and Shell. The group belongs to the Vilankulo and Inhassoro districts of Inhambane Province. The islands were formed from sand deposited by the Save River, which has since shifted its course.

Bazaruto Island

Bazaruto (Portuguese: Ilha do Bazaruto, from Ushurutswa, island of the mist) is a sandy island located approximately 80 kilometres southeast of the mouth of the Save River, Mozambique . It is the largest island in the Bazaruto Archipelago and in the Bazaruto National Park. The warm, southward-flowing Mozambique Current seems to contribute to the increasing buildup of the sandy coastline.

Inhassoro

Inhassoro is a small fishing port in Inhassoro District of Inhambane Province in Mozambique. The town has about 43,000 inhabitants and is located on the Indian Ocean coast along the EN1 highway. Inhassoro, which looks out at Bazaruto and Santa Carolina or Paradise Island is a developing tourist town. The population of Inhassoro is growing steadily as a result of the increase in tourism. Several old hotels date back to colonial times.
