Khomas Region

Khomas is one of the thirteen regions of Namibia. It contains the capital city Windhoek and provides for this reason superior transportation infrastructure. It has well-developed economical, financial, and trade sectors. Khomas Region occupies 4.5% of the land area of Namibia but has the highest population of any of its regions (15%). Whites and coloureds are about 46.7% of population. Khomas is one of only three regions to have neither shoreline nor a foreign border.

Friedenau Dam

Friedenau Dam is a dam in Khomas Region, Namibia. Located 38km southwest of Windhoek, it dams the Kuiseb River and provides water to nearby Matchless Mine. It has a capacity of 6.723 Mm3 and was completed in 1972, when the country was occupied by South Africa.

Vaalgras

Vaalgras is a village in Namibia's Karas Region. Located 60km northeast of Keetmanshoop, the village is also home of the Vaalgras Traditional Authority. It is home to a community of the Oorlam people, a group descends from the OvaHerero, Nama and other groups.

Heroes' Acre (Namibia)

The Heroes' Acre is an official war memorial of the Republic of Namibia. Built less than 10 kilometres outside the capital of Windhoek, Heroes' Acre opened on 26 August 2002 and operates for the purpose of "foster(ing) a spirit of patriotism and nationalism, and to pass on the legacy to the future generations of Namibia".

Polytechnic of Namibia

The Polytechnic of Namibia, locally also known as Poly or Polytechnic, is an institute of tertiary education in Windhoek, Namibia. It has been established by Act 33 / 1994 of the Namibian Parliament.
