Rasuwa District

Rasuwa District(Nepali: रसुवा जिल्ला, a part of Bagmati Zone, is one of the seventy-five districts of Nepal, a landlocked country of South Asia. The district, with Dhunche as its district headquarters, covers an area of 1,544 km² and has a population of 44,731. Gosaikunda lake is located in the district.

Dhunche

Dhunche is the capital of Rasuwa District in Bagmati Zone, Nepal. It is located at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:28|7|N|85|17|E|region:NP_type:city|| | |name= }} at an altitude of 2,030 metres . At the time of the 2001 Nepal census it had a population of 2,535 people residing in 604 individual households.

Rasua Garhi

Rasua Gardhi is a ruined fort, dating back to the wars between Nepal and Tibet in the 19th century. It is situated directly south of the footbridge over the Lendi Kola which leads into Tibet Autonomous Region. At present there is an army post about 5 km south which prevents non-Nepalis from approaching the border. The nearest village to Rasua Gadhi is Ghattekola; Timure, a larger village is 6 km away on the path leading to the roadhead at Syaphru Bensi.

Gosaikunda

Gosaikunda, also spelled Gosainkunda and Gosain Kunda is an alpine freshwater oligotrophic lake in Nepal's Langtang National Park, located at an altitude of 4,380 m in the Rasuwa District with a surface of 13.8 ha . Together with associated lakes, the Gosaikunda Lake complex is 1,030 ha in size and has been designated a Ramsar site in September 2007. The lake melts and sips down to form the Trishuli River and remains frozen for six months in winter October to June.
