Oerle

Oerle is also the Dutch name of the Belgian village Oreye Oerle is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located in the municipality of Veldhoven, about 7 km west of Eindhoven. Oerle was a separate municipality until 1921, when it became part of Veldhoven.

Veldhoven en Meerveldhoven

Veldhoven en Meerveldhoven was a municipality in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It was located west of Eindhoven, and coveered the village of Veldhoven and the former village Meerveldhoven (now part of Veldhoven). The municipality existed until 1921, when it merged with Oerle and Zeelst; the new municipality was named simply "Veldhoven".

Steensel

Steensel is a village on the Gender stream in the municipality of Eersel, North Brabant, the Netherlands. Steensel is part of the Acht Zaligheden (Eight Delights), along with Eersel, Knegsel, Duizel, Wintelre, Netersel, Hulsel en Reusel. In 2007, Steensel had 1,376 inhabitants. The name Steensel appeared first in a document from 1224, in which a certain Henricus and Marcelis were mentioned as knights of Steensel. In 1688, Steensel was plundered and destroyed by French soldiers.

Zeelst is a former village in the Dutch province of North Brabant, now a neighbourhood of Veldhoven. Zeelst was a separate municipality until 1921, when it became part of Veldhoven.

Gender (stream)

The Gender is a stream in the Dutch province of Noord-Brabant. It originates in originally marshy flatlands near Steensel and flows through Veldhoven and its eastern district Meerveldhoven in a general east-northeast direction towards Eindhoven. The Gender is one of many small streams that drain what once was the marshy heath and moorland of eastern Noord-Brabant and the Kempen plateau. Similar streams include the Dommel, Kleine Dommel, Keersop, Tongelreep, Aa, Binnen-Dieze and Run.
