Belt, North Holland

Belt or De Belt is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is located on the former island of Wieringen. Belt is located just to the west of the village of Hippolytushoef. It is named after the small hill ("bult") that it lies on. It is not named on recent topographical maps, where it is considered to be a part of Hippolytushoef.

Middenmeer Aerodrome

Middenmeer Aerodrome is a small airfield in the town of Middenmeer, Netherlands. It is located southeast of Den Helder. During the beginning of the Second World War a military airstrip existed in the area, from which the Royal Netherlands Air Force deployed Fokker C. V and Fokker C. X aircraft for bombing and reconnaissance missions against the German military. As of 2012, the airfield has a single grass runway, 05/23, 400 metres (1,312 feet) long.

Onze Lieve Vrouwetoren

The Onze-Lieve-Vrouwetoren ('The Tower of Our Lady') is a church tower in Amersfoort. The Late Gothic building is 98,33 meter tall and reaches high above the inner city. It's one of the most eye-catching monuments in town and the third highest church tower in the Netherlands. The nickname of the tower is Lange Jan ('Long John'). The church that belonged to the tower was destroyed by a gunpowder explosion in the 18th century.

Afsluitdijk

The Afsluitdijk is a major causeway in the Netherlands, constructed between 1927 and 1933 and running from Den Oever on Wieringen in North Holland province, to the village of Zurich in Friesland province, over a length of 32 kilometres and a width of 90 m, at an initial height of 7.25 m above sea-level. It is a fundamental part of the larger Zuiderzee Works, damming off the Zuiderzee, a salt water inlet of the North Sea, and turning it into the fresh water lake of the IJsselmeer.
