Sohae Satellite Launching Station

Sohae Satellite Launching Station (Chosŏn'gŭl: 서해위성발사장; Hancha: 西海衛星發射場; MR: Sohae Wisŏng Palsajang, also known as Tongch'ang-dong Space Launch Center and Pongdong-ri) is a rocket launching site in Cholsan County, North Pyongan Province, North Korea. The base is located among hills close to the northern border with China. The spaceport was built on the site of the village Pongdong-ri which was displaced during construction.

Tongnim Station

Tongrim Station (or Dongnim Station) is the central railway station for Tongrim County, North Korea. It is located on the Pyongui Line, which was formed from part of the Gyeongui Line to accommodate the shift of the capital from Seoul to Pyongyang. It was originally opened by the Japanese as Tōrin Station.

Sonchon County

Sonchon County is a kun, or county, on the coast of the Yellow Sea in west-central North Pyongan province, North Korea. To the north it borders Chonma, to the east Kusong and Kwaksan, and to the west Tongrim; to the south, it borders nothing but the sea. Sonchon was reorganized in 1952, with two myŏn, or townships, being split off to form the new county of Tongrim.

Kwangmyŏngsŏng program

The Kwangmyŏngsŏng programme is a class of experimental satellites developed by North Korea. The name Kwangmyŏngsŏng (광명성 is from a Chinese-language poem by Kim Il-sung. The first class of satellite built by Korea, the program started in the 1980s. There appear to have been four launch attempts.
