Tokchon

Tokchon is a si, or city, in northern South Pyongan province, North Korea. It is bordered by Yongwon and Maengsan to the east, Kujang to the north, Kaechon to the west and Pukchang to the south. It is home to the Sungri Motor Plant, established in 1950, and various other small factories.

Battle of Wawon

The Battle of Wawon, also known as the Battle of Wayuan, was a series of delay actions of the Korean War that took place from November 27–29, 1950 near Wawon in present-day North Korea. After the collapse of the US Eighth Army's right flank during the Battle of the Ch'ongch'on River, the Chinese 38th Corps advanced rapidly towards the critical road junction at Kunu-ri in an effort to cut off United Nations forces' retreat route.

Pohyonsa

Pohyon-sa is a Korean Buddhist temple located in Hyangsan county in North Pyong'an Province, North Korea. It is located within the Myohyang Mountains. Founded under the Koryo dynasty at the start of the 11th century, the temple flourished as one of the greatest centers of Buddhism in the north of Korea, and became a renowned place of pilgrimage. Like most other temples in North Korea, the complex suffered extensive damage from US bombing during the Korean War.

International Friendship Exhibition

The International Friendship Exhibition is a large museum complex located at Myohyangsan, North Pyongan province, in North Korea. It is a collection of halls that house gifts presented to former leaders Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il from various foreign dignitaries. The protocol of gift-giving is well established in Korean culture. Built in a traditional style, the halls opened on August 26, 1978 and consist of over 150 rooms covering a total area of between 28,000 and 70,000 square meters.

Myohyangsan

Myohyang-san ("Mysterious Fragrant Mountain") is a mountain in North Korea (40.03N, 126.28E). The mountain is named after the mystic shapes and fragrances found in the area. Myohyang is a North Korean tourist attraction and visited by many national tourists. There are a number of hiking routes on the mountain. Apart from the view, tourists are attracted by the Pohyon temple, built in the 11th century, the Sangwon hermitage, the Kumgang hermitage, or the Habiro hermitage.
