Rena, Norway

Rena is a small town in eastern Norway. It is the administrative centre of Åmot municipality in the Norwegian county of Hedmark. Rena is a rather rural but picturesque town, and is situated at the meeting point of Glomma (Norway's longest river) and Rena rivers (a tributary to Glomma). The latter is one of the best for fishing in Norway. Its population was 2,009 in 2005. There is a train station of the Røros Line in Rena.

Renaelva

The Renaelva river flows into the Glomma in Åmot municipality in the county of Hedmark, Norway. One bridge that connect east and west side of the river, is Kjøllsæter Bridge. A sideriver to Renaelva is Julussa which is about 30 km long, coming from south, through the valley Julussdalen. The Rena watershed has a drainage area of 3,967 km².

Åmot Lower Secondary School

Åmot Lower Secondary School is a lower secondary school located in Åmot, Norway, with approximately 150 pupils and 20 employees. The school is nationally known in Norway for developing information and communication technology programs. The school is part of the European Network for Innovative Schools network (ENIS).

Åsta accident

The Åsta accident was a railway accident that occurred at 13:12:25 on 4 January 2000 at Åsta in Åmot, south of Rena in Østerdalen, Norway. A train from Trondheim collided with a local train from Hamar on the Røros Line resulting in an explosive fire. 19 people were killed while 67 survived the accident.

Julussa

Julussa is a 32-kilometre-long river in Hedmark, Norway, starting at Bergesjøen 1043 feet (318 m.o.h. ) The name Julussa comes from the old Norwegian word "ljudlausa" which means soundless. The reason for that given name is that the river flows so silently through the valley of Julussdalen. Julussa was very important for timber rafting the timber out of the big forests, from around the mid 16th century until 1969. From Bergesjøen, Julussa flows 32 kilometers until it flows into Renaelva.
