Halsnøy

Halsnøy is an island in Sunnhordland in the county of Hordaland, Norway. It has about. 2,300 inhabitants (2008), and is 38 square kilometres in area. It is the most populated island in Kvinnherad and was until 2008 the most populated island in Norway without a direct connection to land.

Halsnøy Tunnel

The Halsnøy Tunnel is a subsea road tunnel which connects the island of Halsnøy to the mainland at Sunde in Kvinnherad, Norway. The tunnel is 4,120 meters long and reaches 135 meters below mean sea level. Located on County Road 544, it opened on 8 March 2008 and is a toll road. The project included 2.2 kilometers of new road and cost 427 million Norwegian krone.

Halsnøy Abbey

Halsnøy Abbey was a house of Augustinian Canons located on the island of Halsnøy on the Hardangerfjord in Kvinnherad, Hordaland, Norway, and was one of the richest monasteries in medieval Norway. The monastery is believed to have been founded in 1163 or 1164 by the jarl Erling Skakke, as an inducement to Archbishop Øystein to crown Erling's seven-year-old son, Magnus Erlingsson, as King of Norway.

Fjelberg

Fjelberg is a village and former municipality in Hordaland county, Norway. The parish of Fjældberg was established as a municipality January 1, 1838. According to the 1835 census the municipality had a population of 2,986. Already in 1855 the municipality Eid was incorporated into Fjelberg, increasing its population to 4,794. In 1865 the parish Vikebygd, with 1,062 inhabitants, was merged with a part of Finnås municipality to create the new municipality Sveen.
