Vega Church

Vega Church is a parish church in the municipality of Vega in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Gladstad. The church is part of the Vega parish in the Sør-Helgeland deanery in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The white wooden church was built in 1864. It was consecrated on 14 July 1864 by the Bishop Carl Peter Parelius Essendrop. The church seats about 430 people.

Vegaøyan

Vegaøyan (Norwegian) or the Vega Archipelago (English) is a group of islands in the Norwegian Sea corresponding roughly to the municipality of Vega. Since 2004, it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This cluster of around 6,500 small islands in Nordland county, just south of the Arctic circle, surrounds the main island of Vega and has been inhabited since the Stone Age.

Ylvingen

Ylvingen is an island in the municipality of Vega in Nordland county, Norway. It has less than 60 residents and an area of 7.6 square kilometres . During the Second World War, the island was used by the German Armed Forces as an emplacement and had prisoners of war from Russia, Serbia, and Poland doing forced labor. The television series Himmelblå was filmed on the island.

Skålvær

Skålvær are a group of islands in the municipality of Alstahaug in Nordland county, Norway. The islands are located in the western part of Alstahaug, about 15 kilometres northwest of Tjøtta and about 15 kilometres south of Silvalen. They were formerly a part of Vega, but in 1971 it was transferred to Alstahaug. Skålvær was once a thriving trading post and had many residents, but it has since declined in importance. Today, much of Skålvær is an outdoor recreation area for Alstahaug municipality.
