Rondane National Park

Rondane National Park is the oldest national park in Norway, established on 21 December 1962. The park contains ten peaks above 2,000 metres, with the highest being Rondslottet at an altitude of 2,178 m . The park is an important habitat for herds of wild reindeer. The park was extended in 2003, and now covers an area of 963 km in the counties Oppland and Hedmark. Rondane lies just to the east of Gudbrandsdal and two other mountain areas, Dovre and Jotunheimen are nearby.

Ottadalen

Ottadalen is a valley in the municipalities of Skjåk, Lom, Vågå and Sel in the county of Oppland, Norway. Ottadalen is one of the lateral valleys of Gudbrandsdalen. Others include Gausdal, Heidal, and Vinstradal. It lies on the northern edge of Jotunheimen National Park.

Otta (river)

The Otta river flows through the Ottadal valley in the municipalities of Skjåk, Lom, Vågå and Sel in Norway. The river Otta begins in Skjåk municipality and flows into lake Vågåvatn. Exiting the Vågåvatn at Vågåmo, it continues its journey through the Ottadal leaving Vågå municipality to meet the Gudbrandsdalslågen at the town Otta in Sel municipality. The watershed of the Otta drains an area of 3948 km².
