Kvam, Oppland

Kvam is a village in Gudbrandsdalen situated along the Gudbrandsdalslågen river. The place lies in Nord-Fron municipality in Oppland County, Norway. During the military campaign in Norway in 1940, Kvam was the scene of a large military action between German and British soldiers. The place has a British military cemetery and its own railway station. Its population was 832 in 2006.

Kvam Station

Kvam Station is a railway station located at the town of Kvam in Nord-Fron, Norway. The station is located on Dovrebanen and served regional trains with one departure southwards to Hamar and one north to Åndalsnes each day. The station was opened in 1896 when Dovrebanen was extended from Tretten to Otta.

Sjoa

The Sjoa river provides the outlet from lake Gjende at Gjendesheim in the Jotunheimen mountains of Norway's Jotunheim National Park. It flows eastward into the Gudbrandsdalslågen river via the Heidal traditional district in the Gudbrandsdal. South of the village Randsverk it flows through Ridderspranget — a ravine named after a Norwegian myth.

Vinstra

Vinstra is the name of both a village and a river in Gudbrandsdalen. The village lies in Nord-Fron municipality in Oppland County, Norway. The administrative centre of Nord-Fron, the population is 2449. http://www. ssb. no/beftett/tab-2005-06-03-01. html The village has rail connections via the Dovre railroad and has a high school. Highway E6 goes through the village of Vinstra. The Vinstra River comes from the west and flows into Gudbrandsdalslågen at the village of Vinstra.
