Isthmus of Panama

The Isthmus of Panama, also historically known as the Isthmus of Darien, is the narrow strip of land that lies between the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, linking North and South America. It contains the country of Panama and the Panama Canal. Like many isthmuses, it is a location of great strategic value. The Isthmus was formed some three million years ago during the Pliocene epoch.

Picacho Mountain

Picacho Peak is a mountain located in the western side of the Province of Panama in the district of San Carlos. Located in the geographical coordinates {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:8|37.648|N|80|02.839|W||| | |name= }}, in the Central Mountain Range. In the base of the peak there is a green lagoon named "Laguna de San Carlos" and the private mountain development Altos del Maria. The Picacho Peak is 1,081 metres high.

Isla Tres Perros

Isla Tres Perros is a Panamanian island with an area of 22,745 m located in the middle of the Panama Canal in the southwest region of the Gatun Lake. The Island was created when the waters of the Chagres River were dammed by the Gatun Dam to create the Gatun lake. When the waters rose, they covered a significant part of the existing rainforest, and the hilltops became the islands that are now scattered throughout the lake.
