Chanchamayo or La Merced is a town in the Junín Region in central Peru. It is the capital of the Chanchamayo District, which is located in the Chanchamayo Province. This region is located in the so-called jungle-eyebrow, which means that its geography is a mixture of mountains and jungle. Perené River
The Perené River is a Peruvian river on the eastern slopes of the South American Andes. It is formed at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:10|57|06|S|75|17|00|W| | |name= }} at the confluence of the rivers Chanchamayu and the Pawkartampu, 15 km above the community of Perené, actually two pueblos of Santa Ana and Pampa Silva divided by the river, at 650 m above sea level. The river flows in a south-easterly direction; its length is 165 km.
