Huarochirí Province (in hispanicized spelling) or Waruchiri is located in the Lima Region of Peru. Its capital is Matucana. The western section is part of the Lima Metropolitan Area.

Matucana is a town in Central Peru, capital of the province Huarochirí in the region Lima. It's located to the East of Lima at 2,378 m (7,802 ft) above sea level, along the Central Road at km 74. Matucana was founded in 1647 by Don Miguel de Castro Y Garcia, a descendant of one of Francisco Pizarro's Conquistadores. He discovered gold in the hills outside of Matucana at a site that was once a holy shrine for the Incas.

Ticlio (or Abra Anticona) is the highest point of the central road of Peru (km 120), in the Andean mountains, reaching 4,818 m, and a railway crossing loop on the Ferrocarril Central Andino (FCCA) in Peru whose main claim to fame is that it was the highest railway junction in the world.

Morococha

Morococha is the capital city of the Morococha District in the Yauli Province of Peru. Until 2005 - when China built the Tibet railway - Morococha was famous for holding the most high-mountainous railroad in the world - the branch of Morococha, which passes at the height of 4,818–500 metres (&#160) above sea level. Morococha is near the city La Oroya.
