Lake Junín

Lake Junín, known as Lago Junín in Spanish and Chinchaycocha ("Northern Lake") in Quechua, is the largest lake entirely within Peru. Even though Lake Titicaca has a much larger area, its eastern half is located on Bolivian territory. Located at approximately 4,082 metres above sea level, Lake Junín is an important birdwatching destination in the country.

Cerro de Pasco

Cerro de Pasco (population 70,000) is a city in central Peru, located at the top of the Andean mountains. It is the capital of the Pasco region, and an important mining center. At 14,200 feet (a little bit more than 4,330 m) elevation, it is one of the highest cities in the world, for sure the highest city of over 50,000 inhabitants, the elevation even reaches 4,380 m in the Yanacancha area. It is connected by road and by rail to the capital Lima, as far as 300 km.

Daniel Alcides Carrión National University

The Daniel Alcides Carrión National University (Universidad Nacional Daniel Alcides Carrión), or UNDAC for short, is the public university of Cerro de Pasco, Peru. It was founded by decree law no. 15527 on April 12, 1965. The university runs establishments in Oxapampa, Yanahuanca, Paucartambo, Tarma and La Merced. Due to its location the scientific focus is on mining and agronomic sciences.
