Calvas is a canton of the Province of Loja, Ecuador, located in the south of the province, bordering Paltas and Gonzanamá in the north, Quilanga and Espíndola in the east, Peru in the south, and Sozoranga in the west. Ayabaca Province

Ayabaca or Ayavaca is one of the eight provinces of the Piura Region, in northwestern Peru. It borders Ecuador on the north and northeast, Huancabamba Province and Morropón Province on the south, and the Piura and Sullana provinces on the west. This province is located in the western Andes and its capital is the town of Ayabaca, which is the highest in the whole region. Two bus companies cover the route Piura-Sullana-Ayavaca. The trip takes from 5 to 6 hours approximately.

The town is located at 2,815 meters above sea level and has good weather. People has a great religious fervor for the Captive Lord (Señor Cautivo) whose festivities attract many followers who come in pilgrimage from several northern zones of Peru and even from Ecuador.
