Opole Voivodeship, or Opole Province, is a . It is part of Silesia, and the territorial successor of the former German Upper Silesia, which had the same city — then Oppeln — as its capital. Opole Voivodeship is bordered by Lower Silesian Voivodeship to the west, Greater Poland and Łódź Voivodeships to the north, Silesian Voivodeship to the east, and the Czech Republic to the south.

Zoo Opole

Zoo Opole (Polish: Ogród Zoologiczny w Opolu), is a zoo in the city of Opole, Poland. It was founded in 1930. About 20 hectares in extent, it houses around 1000 animals of about 240 different species. It is located on Bolko Island in the Oder River.

Domecko

Domecko (German Dometzko, 1936-45 Althaus) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Komprachcice, within Opole County, Opole Voivodeship, in south-western Poland. Before 1945 the area was part of Germany. The village has a population of 1,400. During the Second World War the village, then known as Althaus, was the base for a working party (E74) of British and Commonwealth prisoners of war, under the adminstration of Stalag VIIIB/344 at Łambinowice (then know as Lamsdorf) in Poland.
