Barciany

Barciany is a village in Kętrzyn County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland, close to the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast of Russia. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Barciany. It lies approximately 15 kilometres north of Kętrzyn and 74 km north-east of the regional capital Olsztyn. Its name originates from the name of the one Old Prussian tribe - Bartians. An ordensburg was erected in 1325, but stone was not used until 1377.
