Miranda do Corvo

</div> Miranda do Corvo is a Portuguese town in Miranda do Corvo Municipality in Coimbra District of Portugal. Miranda do Corvo literally means "View over the Corvo River. " The town has a beautiful church situated on a hill overlooking the area. A large "Rio de Janeiro"-type statue of Jesus also looks out over the town. There is a weekly market selling fresh local produce. Miranda do Corvo is approximately 30 minutes by bus from the city of Coimbra.

Conímbriga

Conímbriga is one of the largest Roman settlements in Portugal, and is classified as a National Monument. Conímbriga lies 16 km from Coimbra and less than 2 km from Condeixa-a-Nova. The site also has a museum that displays objects found by archaeologists during their excavations, including coins and surgical tools. A restaurant/café is in the museum, which also has a gift shop.

Penela Castle

Castle of Penela is located in a Penela town in Penela Municipality in Coimbra District, Portugal. The castle was built on a hill dominating the area and used to be a stronghold protecting Coimbra in times of Reconquista. Castle of Penela and the neighboring castle Montemor-o-Velho are both fine examples of defensive structures of that period. The origins of the name are controversial and are attributed by some authors to ancient Celtic tribes.
