Romincka Forest

Romincka Forest or Krasny Les, a palaearctic ecoregion (called Puszcza Romincka) in the Taiga and boreal forests Biome, is located in Russia and Poland. The German and Polish names of the forest are derived from the Old Prussian syllable rom, meaning calm or holy, as the forest was connected with the mythology of the Old Prussians. The Russian name, Krasny Les, means "red forest".

Lake Vištytis

Lake Vištytis is a lake on the border between Lithuania and Russia. Prior to World War II it marked part of the border between Germany and Lithuania. The small Lithuanian town of Vištytis on the northern shore was named after the lake. On the Lithuanian side, the lake and its environs are protected by Vištytis Regional Park. The lake has 15 inflows, but only one river, the Pissa, tributary to Pregolya, flows from this lake.
