Bolshakovo transmitter

Bolshakovo transmitter was the most powerful mediumwave broadcasting station for mediumwave in the world, situated near Bolshakovo, Russia. It was used by Voice of Russia for broadcasting on the mediumwave frequencies 1116 kHz and 1386 kHz with a maximum transmitter power of 2.5 Megawatts. Eight guyed masts equipped with special cage antennas (so-called ARRT-antennas) are installed. The masts, built in 1974, are 257 metres tall.

Treaties of Tilsit

The Treaties of Tilsit were two agreements signed by Napoleon I of France in the town of Tilsit in July, 1807 in the aftermath of his victory at Friedland. The first was signed on 7 July, between Tsar Alexander I of Russia and Napoleon I of France, when they met on a raft in the middle of the Neman River. The second was signed with Prussia on 9 July.

Tilse

The Tilse (from tilszus, meaning "swampy") is a 27 km long river in the former East Prussia discharging into the Neman at Sovetsk which until 1946 was called Tilsit in accordance with it.

Slavsk

Slavsk, prior to 1945 known by its German name Heinrichswalde, is a town and the administrative center of Slavsky District of Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia, located to the west of Sovetsk. The town has a railway station on the Sovetsk-Kaliningrad railroad. Population: 4,614; 5,172; 4,682.

Rambynas

Rambynas is a hill (about 46 metres high) in western Lithuania, on the bank of the Neman River. Across the river is Russian exclave of Kaliningrad Oblast. The hill belongs to the territory of Rambynas Regional Park. The nearby larger city is Pagėgiai and Tauragė in Lithuania, Neman and Sovetsk in Kaliningrad Oblast. The hill is thought to have been the place of ancient Skalvian fort, destroyed by the Teutonic Knights in 1276. Later it was used for religious ceremonies of pagan Lithuanians.
