Battle of Friedland

The Battle of Friedland (June 14, 1807) saw Napoleon I's French army decisively defeat Count von Bennigsen's Russian army about twenty-seven miles (43 km) southeast of Königsberg. The site of Friedland, in the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast since 1945, received the new name of Pravdinsk in that year. Friedland effectively ended the War of the Fourth Coalition (1806–1807) against Napoleon.

Znamensk, Kaliningrad Oblast

Znamensk is a rural locality (a settlement) in Gvardeysky District of Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia, located on the right bank of the Pregolya River at its confluence with the Lava River 50 kilometers east of Kaliningrad. Population: 4,036; 4,302; 4,570.

Łyna River

The Łyna, or Lava, is a river in northern Poland's Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship as well as in Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast. The Łyna is a tributary of the Pregolya River, and has a total length of 264 km (190 km in Poland - making it the 11th longest river there - and 74 km in Russia) and a basin area of 7,126 km² (5,719 km² in Poland). It is connected to Lake Mamry by the 18th-century Masurian Canal.

Melejdy

Melejdy is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Sępopol, within Bartoszyce County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland, close to the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast of Russia. It lies approximately 13 kilometres north-east of Sępopol, 25 km north-east of Bartoszyce, and 75 km north-east of the regional capital Olsztyn. Before 1945 the area was part of Germany.
